Progress in Solar Thermal Systems and Their Role in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals

The use of solar thermal systems (STSs) has recently reached a significant edge. increasing research on developing an alternative power supply for limiting fossil fuel usage and climate change are the driving forces STSs. current work explores recent progress in STSs’ applications, including PV/T or “photovoltaic/thermal” systems, zero-energy buildings, greenhouse pumping water, refrigerators, chimneys, water desalination, collectors, along with benefits challenges these applications. Then, potential contribution STSs achieving various SDGs “Sustainable development goals”, barriers gaps, elaborated. In brief, significantly contribute to seventeen SDGs’ achievement directly indirectly. Recent developments engineering applications strongly based materials construction, as well their design, process optimisation, integration multidisciplinary sciences technologies such modelling, nanoscience/nanotechnology, artificial intelligence.
